I'll never forget Mr. Kennedy

What a day. I just returned from Robert Kennedy's funeral. It was a lovely service followed by a heartfelt reception at his family home in Caledon hosted by his beloved wife Tosca and daughters. My husband and I also attended the visitation last night to honour this fitness and bodybuilding icon amongst old colleagues and close friends. I can't express how much "Bob" meant to me and how much of an impression he has left on my life. Not only did he help launch my magazine career but he also introduced me to my husband Craig as well as many exciting places around the world. Bob and Tosca also came to our wedding in Bahamas almost 10 years ago — the pictures he took of us will forever remind me of his zest for life and extreme talent as a photographer.

Bob was extremely passionate about anything that involved working out, weight training and eating clean. He was the true meaning of “living the healthy lifestyle”. I think if the angels above could pass along just one message to him from me it would be… I will always remember how you took me under your wings when I didn’t know any better. I spent over 8 years working for you on your various magazines such as Oxygen, AHF and MuscleMag and the impact on my life you’ll never know. I will always cherish the time we spent mulling over photos at the old light table, arguing about the next theme of an issue, and traveling to industry shows like the Arnold Classic and the Olympia in Vegas for photo shoots and some fun. I owe a ton to you, Bob. You will be truly missed.

Isn't it crazy how much we start to appreciate people when they're gone? Imagine what a wonderful world this would be if we all learned to appreciate the people and places around us before it's too late. Life is too short and Bob has taught that to me. He was only 73 years young and made such an impact on the industry that none of us will ever begin to repay. I'd also like to send a special thank you to Tosca Reno for your graciousness today and opening your home for all to celebrate Bob's life. If there's one thing he would have wanted, it would have been a special get-together with friends and family to talk about the fitness industry that he literally built. Thanks again and may Bob's legend live on. God bless.
